47 Tucanae is a globular cluster in the constellation Tucana and approximately 13.000 lightyears away. It was discovered by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in 1751 from his observatory at the Cape of Good Hope. 47 Tucanae is among the most massive clusters in the Milky Way containing a couple of million stars.
